Grand Chapitre 2012 to be held in Cairns , Far North Queensland
The committee of the Great Barrier Reef Bailliage is pleased to announce that the Australian Grand Chapitre will be held in Cairns from the Thursday 14th to Sunday 17th of June 2012. Bailli Robin Daynes and her committee have formulated an eclectic programme to highlight some of the local attractions and best restaraunts.
Highlights will include Sundown Champagne in the Rainforest via Skyrail, followed by canapés and cocktails at Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural park; Choice of 2 Market tours followed by lunch with local ingredients; Friday Dinner at Red Ochre Restaurant featuring Australian bush foods; Art gallery tour and themed Saturday Gala Dinner at the Hilton Hotel. A farewell lunch or brunch will be held on the Sunday .
And if this is not enough, we will offer a Mondial function comparing Queensland wines with rivals from other states, Friday AGM , and of course the Jeunes Chefs Rôtisseurs and Jeunes Sommeliiers competitions.
A number of accommodation options are being finalized. As Cairns is a compact city , many of the events will be only a short walk from the accommodation.
Of course there are an almost limitless range of tours, attractions and places to explore before or after the Chapitre in our beautiful part of the world . The cooler months are definitely the best time to visit the Far North.
An electronic brochure and invitation with more detail will be posted soon.
On behalf of the Great Barrier Reef Bailliage committee and members we look forward to seeing you in Cairns for this grand event .
